CYTOGENETIC STUDIES IN BAD OBSTETRIC HISTORY (BOH) AND INFERTILITY-A RETROSPECTIVE STUDY FROMA STAND-ALONE LABORATORY

Introduction: Cytogenetic abnormalities are one of the important causes recurrent pregnancy loss or bad obstetric history and Infertility. Almost 50% first trimester upto 20% second can be due to cytogenetic cause. At same time, also detected in2-3% cases with infertility especially in males. Methods: In this paper, wepresent our detailed analysisof13,618 Bad Obstetric History (BOH) cases,referred for cytogenetics studies at Metropolis Healthcare Ltd, an aim look chromosomal observed huge dataset. This is largest ever reported study BOH cases. Results: We chromosome 470 (3.45%) 13,618 Out cases, reciprocal translocations were highest abnormality noted 136 (28.94%) followed by 9 inversion seen 125 (26.6%) three (0.64%) insertion observed. Inversions 76 (16.17%) Robertsonian 19(4.04%) complex 3 Numerical 84 (17.87%) where as Mosaicism was 17(3.62%) Conclusion:This reinstates importance analysis order provide effective genetic counseling guide patients prevent birth cytogenetically affected babies informing them about prenatal diagnostic testing options preimplantation methods.
